Exploring mature trees in the Landscape

Out and about again loving nature and enjoying the scenes, it’s August and the trees are feeling the heat too, no rain for at least two months if not more in Cyprus and in 40-degree temperatures, some species don’t mind it for a while and the Cercis siliquastrum is one of those trees. Once established it is drought tolerant and resilient.

This specimen has a dazzling flower colour which appears between March – May, before their foliage, which is a luscious green and very attractive. Their leaves are a heart shaped, perfect for shade in the summer months. It is particularly attractive as a  focal point in a garden or grown in masses for a stunning effect. Seed pods hang from the branches which give an extra interest. The Judas tree is a small tree reaching 8-12m in height. Therefore, it is a perfect garden tree. It can grow in many different soils that are well drained.
