Petra tou Romiou: Aphrodite’s Rock

Its absolutely Scapetacular

Beautiful and tranquil place to visit. Cyprus is said to be the birthplace of Aphrodite, legend says that the goddess rose from the waves here naked from the sea on a scallop shell blown by the wind. Aphrodite is the goddess of love, beauty and fertility.

Trip to Aphrodite’s Rock

Walking down towards Aphrodite’s birthplace, through a narrow walkway, it felt like you were about to go to a magical scene. Approaching the arch, which leads you to the beach you can spot the majestically deep blue ocean, and hear the sound of the waves crashing against the enchanted rock, we felt captivated by the seascape.

Aphrodite’s Beach

Pebbles look sculptured and polished, this process is caused by the force of the sea pushing individual pebbles over the top of more pebbles, the waves erode the sharp corners over time.

Seaweeds are marine algae sea water plants, they live attached to rock or other substrata in coastal areas.  These seaweeds have been swept by the waves and combined with the pebbles give a contrast of textures on the surface.
